For three days, a new collective Draft 8 takes over the space with an immersive, site-specific festival that moves through dance, installation, performance, music, and participatory activities. Each evening unfolds in a somewhat connected trajectory exploring the act of ‘drafting’. An idea of a draft meets a draft of an idea, which meets an idea wondering whether it is a draft, an idea, neither, or both.
DRAFT8 is a collective of eight performing artists based in Antwerp: Emily, Josephine, Linde, Lluna, Olivia, Paula, Tomàs and Vera. After three years of studying and working together, they founded the collective to step into the professional dance world already resisting the emphasis on individualism. Their practice is rooted in interdependence, mutual support, and collective making. While each carries a singular approach to dance, they meet in the belief that the body and movement hold potential as tools for social resistance. Together, they explore how dance can disrupt capitalist logics and nurture alternative ways of being together.
LONG LIVE THE ATTEMPTS THAT REMAIN ATTEMPTS, AND EVEN LONGER LIVE
THOSE WHO WERE WILLING TO ACCEPT WHAT THEY DID NOT YET UNDERSTAND.
