###Fish Narc
Ben Funkhouser, aka fish narc, came up in the Pacific Northwest DIY scene in the late ’00s, attending, booking and playing shows while still in high school. His love of punk, indie, noise and rap has pulled him back and forth between songwriting and production ever since. After his post-punk band Hausu released a single record on Hardly Art in 2013, he turned to making beats and became one of the architects of what came to be called emo rap, working with Lil Peep, Lil Tracy and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal.

Since the late 2010s he has focused on songwriting again, releasing a string of albums on Pop Wig and K Records. 2025’s frog song marked a clear return to his PNW rock roots, and the new Uncle goes further: a sharper, more polished take on the ’80s and ’90s rock that shaped him, recorded with producer Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Hotline TNT). “I feel like Uncle is the best record I’ve ever made,” Funkhouser says. Live, he’s backed by a band featuring members of Krimewatch, Phantasia and Gag.

###TONER
TONER began in 2014 as a slowcore bedroom project by Samuelito Cruz and became a full band by mid-2015. They started touring in 2016 after the release of the Passing Glance 7″ on Oakland punk label Digital Regress, then followed with the Killing Pace EP in 2017. Next came Silk Road in 2020, recorded at The Balboa Studio in Los Angeles. White Buffalo Roam was recorded in Cruz’s bedroom. All three came out on Bay Area label Smoking Room, and White Buffalo Roam was picked as Bandcamp’s Album of the Day.

After 2023’s God’s Hammer EP, TONER return with Dynasty House, their first full-length in five years, out October 30 on Smoking Room. Lead single “Cleo” sets grungy power pop under a shimmering haze. Through it all, the band has stayed rooted in the Bay Area’s DIY underground.
