The Roots Explosion is a soundsystem from Bruges, Belgium that was founded in 2016. The crew consists of five core members and a range of regular MC’s with a common love for reggae music and soundsystem culture. Their main goal is to promote said culture and organize affordable and accessible dances for music lovers young and old. Roots Explosion is playing all kinds of Jamaican music, dubplates and homemade productions, with the emphasis on playing their hand built soundsystem like their predecessors used to do in the golden days of reggae music, when rub-a-dub riddims reigned the dancehall.
Roots Explosion has played at festivals like Couleur Café, Reggae Geel, Reggaebus Festival, Campo Solar, Humble Festival, Space Safari and Ardennes Soundsystem Weekender. The sound also played at international events in Hong Kong and The Netherlands.
The Roots Explosion record label was founded in 2023, kicking off with a polyvinyl dubplate release (Wise Men & Roots Explosion – ‘Sanctuary’), followed by the first 7” (Emma – ‘Free’) in 2025.
